Chip Counts

Blinds have just gone to 10,000 – 20,000 ante 3,000 and these are the chip counts with the movement from the end of last level in brackets and the number of big blinds they have at the start of the new level.

Jonathan Duhamel – 701,000 (+ 188,000) -35 big blinds
Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates – 695,000 (-84,000) – 35 big blinds
Phil Hellmuth – 503,000 (+85,000) – 25 big blinds
Daniel Negreanu – 477,000 (+144,000) – 24 big blinds

Good level for

Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates – Last year he was runner-up but his seventh place finish in the first heat he needed a strong performance in the second heat. And given he’s in the last four he’s probably locked up the bare minimum that he needed from this heat.

Jonathan Duhamel – The French-Canadian has vaulted to the top of the chip charts seemingly without ever putting himself at risk. He knows that with the win from the first heat under his belt he can put a lot of pressure on the other three players as they all badly need a top three finish.

Bad level for

Phil Hellmuth Although he actually gained chips in that level, he got bluffed off a pot by Daniel Negreanu and you sense he might not take it so well if it happens again.

Scott Seiver The defending champion was eliminated in fifth place and after the bagel from heat one he’s going to have to have to win one heat and finish top three in another if he wants automatic qualification.

Hand of the level

Daniel Negreanu bluffed Phil Hellmuth off a big pot…

Hellmuth limped in from the cut-off with , only for Daniel Negreanu to raise to 48,000 with , the two players checked to the river of a board, Hellmuth fired out 20,000 into the pot, Negreanu raised to 140,000 and Hellmuth insta-mucked his full house.
